Co Founder and Head – Data Quality
Matthew (Matt) Shearing, specialises in improving the management and impact of data within different contexts, strategic and technical developments in official statistics, and leading teams across institutional and sectoral boundaries.
Matthew is based in SE Asia but works globally on improving official statistics and other data systems, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), and embedding official statistics standards in wider approaches to international development.
He has worked nationally and internationally in the private and public sectors. As a consultant, he has in-depth experience since 2015 in official statistics and wider areas of international development. Previously, he led the International Relations functions at the UK’s Office for National Statistics. He was also Principal Private Secretary for two UK National Statisticians and managed the work of the ONS executive and non-executive committees. He has worked at the UN-ECE Statistical Division and extensively with EU institutions and the OECD.
Matthew is also Co-Founder/ CEO of the Online Privacy Foundation (OPF) and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
